Marta Gardolińska

  • Music Director of Opera national de Lorraine, Principal Guest Conductor of Barcelona Symphony Orchestra
  • Conducting, Career Mentorship

Marta Gardolińska is rapidly developing into one of the most exciting young conductors and is currently Music Director of Opera national de Lorraine and Principal Guest Conductor of Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona.

Marta came to international attention in 2018 as Young Conductor in Association at the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra where she led the orchestra in two highly successful subscription concerts. This led to her being offered a Dudamel Fellowship with the Los Angeles Philharmonic during the 2019-20 season which included an invitation to be to be second conductor to Gustavo Dudamel for their Grammy award winning live Deutsche Grammophon recording of Ives’ Symphony No. 4.

She regularly conducts orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. This season’s debuts include the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and San Francisco Symphony.

Her recent interpretation of the opera “Manru” by I. J. Paderewski received the Grand Prix for the Best Opera Performance of season 2022/23 of the Association of  French Critics. She has been awarded the title Outstanding Pole in Austria and Outstanding Pole in France for her efforts in popularizing Polish culture and music outside of the country.

Marta has been sharing her experience with students within the framework of the Academy of the Orchestra of the Americas, the mentoring program of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship and in various workshop settings. She is passionate about fostering open communication and transparency in the classical music industry.

*Originally coming from the field of athletics, Marta is passionate about health and well-being in life as a performer. Additional to her conducting studies, Marta has taken the Postgradual Course in Music Physiology at the University of Music and Performang Arts in Vienna. Her approach to conducting technique is informed by the holistic view of human body as an instrument and the conviction that injuries are better prevented rather than cured.

Marta works with conductors at any point on their education path.
