Karin is a slovenian flutist, based in Austria. Currently she is finishing her master degree for flute at Anton Bruckner University Linz, Austria in the class of Norbert Girlinger. She is active as solist, chamber and orchestra musician.
She is a holder of several international competition awards and prizes as a soloist and as a member of different chamber groups. Some of the latest; first prize at IMKA international competition (BIH), first prize at The North International Music Competition (Sweden), golden award at International competition EMC (UK), third prize at International Competition Antonio Salieri (Italy),... She regularly upgrades her musical knowledge and her flute playing with different leading flutists of our time such as; Jasmine Choi, Rachel Brown, Gareth Davies, Paolo Taballione, Mario Caroli, Aldo Baerten, Karl-Heinz Schütz, Martin BeliΔ and others.
Karin is a perspective young flutist. Her open-mindness, dedication and desire for knowledge lead her to perform in different types of projects in Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Mexico,... Some of her latest projects include: playing with Polizeiorchester Bayern München (Germany), CD-recording "Zeit-Weißen" for a German composer Cornelius Hirsch, annual solo-concert in Brucknerhaus Linz as a part of Musikalishes Adventskalender, artistic orchestral residency with Sinfónica Azteca 2023 touring the central Mexico, a serie of chamber music concerts in Morelia (Mexico), where she also held a flute masterclass for aspiring young flutists at the local conservatory.
Karin holds a bachelor degree with honours from ABPU (2022) as well as Artist Diploma with Distinction from OAcademy Conservatory's Orchestral Institute where her mentor was principal flutist of London Symphony Orchestra, Gareth Davies. She is the recipient of the Barbara Celjska Excellence Award 2023 and a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture Slovenia for her Bachelor study.
