Edgar López Juan is a multidisciplinary conductor born in Valencia, Spain. He defines himself as a constant, passionate and motivated person. His previous studies in engineering allow him to have a different vision of the figure of the conductor, since these are times in which innovation along with excellence must be the order of the day to attract new audiences and make music more accessible.
Graduated with honors in orchestra, band and choir conducting at the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Joaquín Rodrigo" of Valencia (CSMV) in 2021 with professors Ramón Ramírez and Nadia Stoyanova, and at the Latvian National Academy of Music Jāzeps Vītols (JVLMA) with maestros Imants Resnis and Eriks Esenvalds.
Due to his versatility, he has developed his early but intense career in various fields of conducting. In 2021 he conducted several opera productions of Les Contes d'Hoffmann - J.Offenbach, and Lucia di Lammermoor - G. Donizetti, produced in Valencia at the CSMV.
He has worked assisting great conductors such as Álvaro Albiach, Josep Vicent, Jaume Santonja and Pablo Rus Broseta, and has attended different masterclasses taught by Nicolás Pasquet, Thomas Dausgaard, Antonello Allemandi, Robert Forés, Cristóbal Soler, Rafael Sanz-Espert, Krastin Nastev....
He is currently assistant conductor in the Jove Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana (JOGV), one of the highest quality young orchestras in the Spanish scene for the seasons 2021 - 2023, and since July 2022 he is part of the new assistant conductors’ list of the Orquesta Joven de Extremadura (OJEX). He combines this with conducting the Unión Musical de la Pobla de Farnals and the SIOAM de Benimàmet, both windbands. He also teaches different young ensembles throughout the Valencian territory.
He is one of the 12 conductors selected from around the world to participate in the 2023 edition of Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship, that allows him to learn from conductors such as Marin Alsop, Alexander Shelley, Vasily Petrenko or Paolo Bortolameolli.
